John Muir Elementary teachers in Seattle will be wearing Black Lives Matter t-shirts at school on September 16th. The school is a K-5 school in the Seattle Public School district. “To be silent would be almost unforgivable, and I think we have been silent for almost too long. It is part of the oppression, the systemic oppression that continues on.”

A district spokesman says the school received a threat related to the Black Lives Matter shirts. A source says it was a bomb threat. The spokesman said Friday's event was meant to celebrate students of color and help narrow the opportunity gap.
“As a black man, a man of color, the conversation about who I am, what I’m about and what interests me is never really told from my perspective.”
