The actual march was the result of work that began in the 1950s, which is actually the increasing tempo of a social movement. The 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom: Publicly associated with Dr. King’s famous “I Have a Dream,” This march brought more than 250,000 people to the nation’s capital.
Significance:
The day went down in history as a powerful show of force against Jim Crow segregation.
Important participants:
Students Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, focus on seldom.
Congress of Racial Equality, help black employment by urging firms to hire more people.

In 2013, former president Obama delivered the speech “Let Freedom Ring” in the 50 anniversary of the march.
Lots of social organizations and groups are still fighting for their equal rights and protection
